Still Growing

We had another ultrasound yesterday. Based on the measurements, our little girl is 7 1/2 pounds. The due date, based on conception is January 26th (4 weeks). The due date based on the current size of this little critter is in about 2 weeks. Jen’s developing mother’s intuition says she’ll be delivering in about a week or so.

That is awesome! I’m excited!

We have a ton of stuff to do, but we have enough done to make this baby comfortable.

During the U/S, we saw her face, she yawned, swallowed, stuck out her tongue, and her hands were right up by her face. And, she is head down — so that’s good.

Please pray for us as we prepare our home to receive this special guest!

Preparing for a Special Guest

Last week we finally got the baby’s room cleared of the “stuff.” We thought we’d be able to share the room with Jen’s office, but as we collected dressers, changing tables, and cribs we quickly saw that we’d have to move the desk out of there!

So, we moved Jen’s desk and then I assembled the crib and changing table. Just before I went to bed I had this incredible sense that we were getting ready for a special visitor. Like when someone comes to spend the night, we change the sheets and prepare the guest room. However, we truly are getting ready for a special visitor — and she’s going to stay for the next 18-23 years!

Wow! That is a special visitor!

We’re really looking forward to her soon arrival — I wonder when that will be?

Actually, we go in for another ultrasound today. The Dr. is concerned that our little girl isn’t so little, so she is monitoring her size. We’ll see!

5 More Weeks

As the impending due date approaches, I am struck by a multitude of thoughts. Several months ago everyone kept telling me that my life would never be the same. All I could do was nod and smile. Now, I’m beginning to get a glimpse of what that means.

If you were to look at my PDA, you’d see a pretty well laid out schedule. I have a pretty good idea of what and where I’ll be for the next three weeks. But now Jen tells me that she expects to deliver early. We are due on January 26, but even that is not exact — right?

So, we have pastors meetings scheduled for the week before the scheduled delivery date. These are up in the mountains at Glacier View Ranch — if the baby hasn’t come yet, I doubt we’ll be attending those meetings. The week before that I have an important meeting scheduled and right before that is the new year.

Jen’s dad is excited to come out and see the new little critter — so he thinks January 10th would be a good day to “schedule” the delivery.

In pondering all this, I am coming to a clear realization that kids don’t exactly adhere to a schedule. In fact, our neighbor spent the other day in the ER getting her little boy patched up. I guess this is one more area where God is teaching me to relax and go with the flow.

Yikes!
